Abstract
One thousand one hundred eighteen patients with gallstone disease
were admitted and treated in our department over the last 10
years. Four patients (0.35%) had internal biliary fistulae (cholecystoduodenal
3 cases and cholecysto-colonic 1 case), in one of them complicated
with gallstone ileus, which permitted us to make some pathogenetic,
clinical and therapeutic considerations about this rare complication
in gallstone disease. The rarity of the lesion, the difficulties
of the clinical diagnosis, the value of different imaging studies
and the main problems of the surgical treatment are emphasized.
Key words
Gallstone ileus - cholecystoduodenal fistula - entero-lithotomy
