Abstract
We have statisticaly analised 3509 obese patients whom underwent
laparoscopic cholecystectomy. These patients were part of a
series of 9000 consecutive cases at whom we performed laparoscopic
cholecystectomy. By using the Z test we compared, on statistical
bases, the results obtained at the obese with that obtained
at the entire series of 9000 cases.
Mean operative time, intraoperative complications, asociate
morbidity, postoperative hospitalization and mortality were
statistical similary at the obese and the entire series of 9000
cases. Obesity doesn’t influence the results of the laparoscopic
cholecystectomy. Laparoscopic cholecystectomy could be used
as first therapeutical intention at the obese patients with
indication of cholecsytectomy, if there are no other specific
contraindications.
